Dr. Rebecca Libera

Bassoon

R Libera.jpg

The other half of the Libera low-reed section, bassoonist Becky Libera first joined the PWS in 2017. While still claiming that her middle school teacher “made her” switch from flute to bassoon, Becky has never looked back and loves every opportunity to perform. She currently can be heard making chamber music with Quintet Sirocco and the Women Winds Ensemble as well as the Fayetteville, Salisbury, and Western Piedmont Symphonies, and the Carolina Philharmonic. Becky also teaches at The Music Academy of North Carolina, and has taught at Duke University, UNCG, and Wake Forest University. A detail-oriented and rule-following person, Becky can be found in Colorado State University’s Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) assisting faculty with their research grant proposals, award negotiation, and project management. With past experiences in UNCG’s OSP, non-profit (Executive Director, Music for a Great Space), hearing conservation, and public school music, Dr. Libera is a two-degree graduate of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (MM, DMA) and her undergraduate dual degree in music performance and music education is from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. In her spare time (ha), Becky enjoys cooking, yoga, running, and house projects.
