Cory Jones is the principal bassoonist of the Piedmont Wind Symphony. Born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Cory enjoys an active freelance career having played with the Winston-Salem Symphony, Greensboro Symphony, Union Symphony, Salisbury Symphony, Western Piedmont Symphony, Durham Symphony, Carolina Philharmonic, Long Bay Symphony, Charleston (SC) Symphony, as well as various other musical ensembles. Cory enjoys teaching a small private bassoon studio and his students have enjoyed performing in NC honor bands, honor orchestras, and receiving generous scholarships to study music. He has a strong passion for arts advocacy with special attention to creating meaningful connections between audiences and artists. In his spare time, Cory can be found enjoying Winston-Salem’s vibrant downtown culture, cooking, traveling, and hanging out with his comically rambunctious German Shorthaired Pointer, Whiskey.
