Clay Perry is a North Carolina native, born and raised in the Robbins community in which he is proud to continue to be a part of as the Director of Bands at North Moore High School, his own alma mater. While never intending to become an educator, Clay found himself back at home teaching the best students in the world. His arrival at North Moore was the most wonderful of accidents that has taught him to never say never, and that the greatest blessings are most often unexpected. During his tenure at North Moore, the Marching Mustangs have received consistent superior ratings and top place finishes in competition, while both Symphonic and Jazz bands have received superior ratings at state contest and regional competitions.

Clay holds both BM and MM degrees in Trumpet Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he also completed his Education Certificate. Clay is an avid performer and holds the Lead Trumpet chair with the Heart of Carolina Jazz Band and is a member of the Piedmont Wind Symphony. When not playing and teaching music, he enjoys spending time in the woods hunting, baling hay, and on the golf course.

Clay’s greatest joy is his family. His wonderful wife Morgan, daughter Ava, and son Owen are without a doubt the best thing that has or will ever happen to him. He would like to thank them for sharing him with his band children and for the sacrifices they have made for the sake of his love of music.
