Barbie Pilla received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Mathematics Education from Morehead State University in Morehead, KY, where she studied with Michael Acord, former principal clarinetist of the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra. Barbie has been playing clarinet with the Piedmont Wind Symphony for 22 seasons and has been principal clarinet for the past 13. Barbie plays with the Piedmont Wind Symphony Harmonie Ensemble and the German Band.

After teaching 11 years in the high school mathematics classroom and 10 years in the online classroom, Barbie now tutors math from her home in Winston-Salem. She also works for Classic Packaging Company, assisting her husband Ken. She and Ken have two wonderful daughters, Caroline and Bridget.
