Noir Fantasies
 
Join us Thursday, October 23rd at 7:30 p.m. for Noir Fantasies, Matthew Troy, Conductor!  Concert includes works by Persichetti, Creston, Theisen, Whitacre, and Weill.  This collection of works showcases the masterful orchestrations created especially for the wind ensemble influenced by the film noir genre and the time period during which this genre flourished.
 
Of the music, Troy says, “This music is all very exciting and accessible for the audience and has a rich variety of sonorities to enjoy”  The concert will feature  a new work by North Carolina composer Alan Theisen.  Troy comments, “It is particularly important for groups like the Piedmont Wind Symphony to play an active role in supporting new works and works by local composers.  It helps sustain and develop the irreplaceable experience of live music.”
 
Tickets are available at the door for $25 adult, $20 senior, $10 student. Brendle Recital Hall, Scales Fine Arts Building, WFU.
 
The Piedmont Wind Symphony celebrates its 25th Anniversary Season under the direction of Artistic Director and Conductor, Rob Simon.  “I have been so proud to be associated with these dedicated musicians and relish the musical highs we have achieved together.”  We are excited to have Matthew Troy, Conductor, with us on this very special concert.
